Animal Planet Rescue Event at the Turtleback Zoo

The Editors of Wild New Jersey, (wildnj.com) are happy to report that over 3,000 people attended the Animal Planet Rescue event at Essex County’s Turtleback Zoo on Saturday, August 8th.

Comcast of New Jersey, Animal Planet, The American Humane Association and Worrall Community Newspapers sponsored the event, and Wild New Jersey was pleased to be associated. We got the chance to speak with many of you there about our web site, a creation of IntheGardenState.com, Comcast’s web site dedicated to information and entertainment in your home town.
The event was free and included tours of the 80 foot Animal Rescue vehicle, demonstrations on how to protect animals during disasters, 4H demonstrations from the folks who raise Seeing Eye puppies and Turtleback Zoo demonstrations featuring falcons, snakes, turtles, lizards and an owl.

Comcast gave out thousands of posters, flying discs, and pencils. Kids were treated to Animal Planet headbands, face painting (we had some ferocious results as you can see) and animal quiz shows for great prizes. (We had free snow cones too!)

In a special drawing, Michael Karu of West Orange won a donated hand-carved wooden Noah's Ark that was the center of a lot of attention.

We want to thank all those who attended and invite you to continue to check in to Comcast’s wildnj.com website to find out about upcoming events, just check our calendar of events in our links' section. It was fun meeting all of you and feel free to write us with any ideas you have for the site.
